Education In India
India has a long history of organized education. The Gurukul system of education is one of the oldest on earth. But now the system is divided into pre-primary, primary, middle, secondary or high school, and higher levels. For the schooling, the system have Schools & Bal Bhavans under the control of central and state boards. And the higher level of education will be provided by the Colleges under different Universities and also directly by the Universities.
Schools
A School is an institution where pupils/students learn from teachers. In most systems of formal education, students progress through a series of schools: primary school, secondary school, high school & higher secondary schools.
Colleges
A College (Latin collegium) is a term most often used today to denote an educational institution. Originally, it meant a group of persons living together under a common set of rules.
Generally, colleges are located in different parts of a state and all of them are affiliated to a regional university. The colleges offer programs under that university. Examinations are conducted by the university at the same time for all colleges under its affiliation. There are several hundred universities and each university has affiliated colleges.
Universities
A University is an institution of higher education and research, which grants academic degrees at all levels (bachelor, master, and doctorate) in a variety of subjects. A university provides both tertiary and quaternary education. The word university is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, roughly meaning “community of teachers and scholars”.

Education System in India
The Indian Education System is generally marks-based. However, some experiments have been made to do away with the marks-based system which has lead to cases of depression and suicides among students. Now many Universities introduced a grades-based system in the hope that it will help students to move away from the cut-throat competition and rote-learning and will be able to focus on creative aspects and personality development as well.
Degree
Degree is any of a wide range of status levels conferred by institutions of higher education, such as universities, normally as the result of successfully completing a program of study.
A bachelor's degree is usually an undergraduate academic degree awarded for a course or major that generally lasts for three to four years
Course
Course is stuty of specialaised subject under a particular degree.
Literacy Level in India
The traditional definition of literacy is considered to be the ability to read and write, or the ability to use language to read, write, listen, and speak. India has good growth rate of literacy, because of the umpteen numbers of various types of Colleges and Universities offering different kinds of education in various fields beginning from Medicine and Engineering to Astronomy and Forestry.
