Musing on the fact that India has a high percentage of school dropouts, I feel sad. There should be another route of education for them. Such an initiative has been taken by Uttar Pradesh government. Rajeev Agarwal, the district magistrate of Allahabad has expressed concern over this serious matter.
He feels there is a dire need of providing alternative education to the school dropouts. He expressed his wish in a review meeting. In this regards he has convened a teacher’s meeting on July 4th 2009. In this meeting Non-Government Organizations and parents will be present. They will all discuss the issue. The existing alternative education centers have failed to make a mark in their field.
The aid and assistance of Non-Government Organizations has been sought to improve the educational infrastructure and quality in seven schools that have already been selected among the rest in the city. The selected schools are situated in Tulsipur, Naya Krishna Nagar, Muthiganj, Rani Mandi, Karela Bagh Colony and Sadiapur.
In the DM’s review meeting the issue of shortage of teachers was discussed. Shiksha Adhikari and other leading officer of the education department of the city have been entrusted with the responsibility to look into this matter.
